This book was kind of lukewarm which was a little disappointing for a novel by Gwynne Forster.

I really enjoyed this romantic tale. Susan’s inablity to have children of her own causes her to turn Lucas away from a potential relationship. The story proves that loves conquers all. The solution lies in adopting Rudy and Nathan, thus giving Susan the children that she desires and the man that she loves. Great story!

Susan Pettiford was a successful interior designer in New York City. Susan finds out that her aunt has passed away leaving her heir to her entire estate including a house, car, and a sizeable bank account. Under the terms of the will, in order for Susan to claim the estate as her own, she must live in Woodmore for one year. There are so many obstacles in Susan’s way. She just found out that she has to have surgery that will change her outlook on life and she wonders if she will ever have the family she wants. Susan has made a decision that she’ll never get involved with anyone because she didn’t want to get hurt…until she met Lucas Hamilton. Lucas was a very successful architect in Woodmore, and was not bad on the eyes. When the two of them meet, sparks fly. Even though both are trying to deny the connection, it’s hard to do. Susan starts to have feelings for Lucas, but because of her secret she tries to stay away from him as much as possible.

Little does Susan know, Lucas has some secrets of his own. Before Lucas was born, his mother Noreen was having an affair with a man twice her senior. They were in love and could not live without one another. The only thing that was hindering them from being together was the fact that Lucas’ father Calvin Jackson was married. Lucas had a lot of animosity against his dad, but he didn’t know the entire story of his parents’ love affair. Because of his parents, Lucas found it hard to be close to anyone until he encountered Susan. Will the two overcome their obstacles or will their secrets block them from being together?

In Getting Some of Her Own, Gwynne Forster did a good job with the storyline. I liked how the author connected all of the characters together and included some of the struggles that a number of women encounter. The only thing I did not like about this book was how Forster didn’t include some main characters at the end of the book. It also didn’t give enough explanation in regards to Calvin Jackson’s other children. Even though the story did lack a few small details, Getting Some of Her Own was still a fairly good read.

I absolutely loved this story. It was intriguiing, sensual, tantalizing and romantic and those are just a few words to describe this novel. The characters are so well depicted that you can visualize being in Woodmore with them. Susan seeks out for self gratification, without weighing the consequences of her actions. She also doesn’t see how her whole life will be transformed from her personal relationships to her career choices. Just because a door closes doesn’t mean that another won’t open. Lucas, has been harboring for years his stand to outdue his father, he has the plan, but doesn’t figure that what he thinks or believes may not be the truth… never say what you won’t do, because once in a situation you never will believe your reaction. Susan and Lucas both are faced with life altering decisions and it is up to them how and who will factor into the future. Kix and Cassie have a story of their own and they are the prime example of not judging a book by its cover. Jay has a story of his own, the only character to me who has no character…hidden secrets lie within this man. Enid and Luveen, will they escape the curse of their parents loveless marriage, and find true happiness or will they follow in the path of destruction. Willis, a great guy, a keen businessman and when Grandma and Momma like you, this man has got to be a good catch. Gwynne Forrester has written a compelling story that keeps the pages turning, I look forward to seeing these characters in other stories… Great Job!!!

First let me say that I really enjoyed reading this story. It kept me

thinking what if or is it really that important? In my opinion, Susan, the main character in the story puts too much weight on the physical. Does having a hysterectomy change a persons life so drastically? Lucas is an inspiration – Oh how we all wish for the shining knight to make it all right. This Novel is about getting your priorities straight in life.

Susan must overcome a hardship and this is her story of how she gets a little justice of her own or makes the best of what she has. You be the judge and read a very interesting interpretation. Gwynne Forster has always been and still remains my Favorite Author. From one of many of your loyal fans Nadine. Anxiously awaiting your next Novel.
